FREEZING IN FLORIDA: How Cold Is It?

so coldIt is so cold that my husband wore his new wool lined hoodie while dining in a restaurant. It is so cold that he wore the hood from the hoodie with the draw strings drawn tightly under his chin. He looked like a hooded gangster.
It is so cold that when anybody who was recently outdoors passed us by they left behind a drafty chill. It is so cold that a pigeon entered the restaurant and refused to go back outside. It is possible that said bird was also attracted to the Donald Duck that decorated our friends sweatshirt. it is also possible that he was attracted to our other friend who likes to talk to birds in their language. Whatever the reason no one had the heart to force bird back into the elements

  1. Same here in California! We had frosts all through December and into January, but no rain (and we rely on our winter rains to fill the reservoirs). The birds stand forlornly on their frozen bird bath. My yard is brown from frost bite, even plants that have been established for decades are damaged – even the natives and azaleas. My lemons froze rock hard and I suspect there will be none this coming year. I suspect I will have to throw out the orchids in the greenhouse.

I think we are experiencing global “Colding”. Those spending the winter in Toronto Ontario are experiencing the most sever winter ever. I have offspring and 2 grandchildren visiting us in Florida from Toronto. Thank goodness the weather has improved and the little ones have enjoyed swimming.
